Hi, I am Yew Kwan, 37 years of age and I work as an electronics engineer. I first came to know of Student Advisory Centre two years ago, reading about them in a newspaper article featuring the Wishing Well Program. Since then, I have found out more about their activities and programs and even engaged in some of their actvities and know that their cause is truly meaningful.

Having participated in Charity Swim 2011, it was truly a great experience to have combined two great passions of mine; sports and charity. Inspired by this, I will be doing the Gobi March in June 2012, not only as a personal challenge but also in hope to raise some funds for Student Advisory Centre. 

The Gobi March is a 250-kilometer (155-mile) 7-day, 6-stage foot race. The course of the Gobi March takes competitors across a wide variety of terrains including dirt tracks, sand dunes, dry river beds, hills, villages and more. Competitors must carry all their own equipment and food, are only provided with water and a place in a tent each day but are supported by professional medical and operations teams.

Mission Trip to Cebu

For two weeks in February (31 January – 9 February), our team compromising of Trevor, Sein and Jennifer headed up into Cebu to venture into the possibilities of helping children in the Philippines.

We visited 3 orphanages Rise Above Foundation, Children’s Joy Foundation and SOS Charity.

Our trip was successful and we have agreed to adopt Rise Above Foundation as our Charity Partner in the Philippines. They have a total of 17 children which they have rescued from the slums.

We will be granting these children their wishes through our wishing well portal www.wishingwell.org.sg. We will also be organizing trips from Singapore to Philippines to visit these orphanages. Please email wishingwell@studentadvisory.org.sg if you are interested in such trips!

Home Improvement Project - A Gift of Love

Our volunteers helped paint houses, install shelving and buy furniture for needy families as a token of love for our Valentine's Day Project on 11 February 2012, 9:30am – 4:30pm.

With Valentine's day close around the corner, many people splurging and buying gifts for their loved ones.

There are many children who are poor that would appreciate a gift of love during this season.

This season, we will be painting 5 needy children's homes as a representation of the meaning of through our Charity (Valentine's Day Home Improvement project)! 

If you would like to donate to our Home Improvement Project A Gift of Love, the children's needs are also online for your kind donations. These donations will be directed to the home improvements required for each home!
